About Me
Hi TruFans!
I grew up in Blacksburg, Virginia a little north of Tobacco Road watching Tar Heel basketball and Hokie football and I have insane, crazy, obsessive love for the college game. College basketball was my first love in sports. No sport will ever be able to compare to my love for college basketball and no team will ever be able to compare to my love for the Carolina Tar Heels. Dean Smith is a basketball genius and the greatest coach to ever grace the stage of college basketball. As a kid, I use to worship (and fall in love with) all the Carolina ball players. Vince Carter has always been my most favorite. I love his style, his passion, his intensity. I have home videos of me as a little girl glued to the television when games were on, decked out in Carolina gear, ready to attack anyone who threatened to change the channel. Not like such a thing would happen in my house. The home I grew up in is Carolina blue. No joke.
Honestly, I never really cared about professional sports until I moved to Boston a few years ago. In fact, I didn't think it was possible for me to like ANY professional sport, especially not baseball (it was always too slow, long and boring for me), but then I started watching the Red Sox and I actually started to enjoy it! I always tell people the Red Sox seduced me, because nothing else makes any sense. But then again, I guess it's hard not to get into the all the excitement when you're living in the world's greatest sports city with some of the most incredible fans!
I wasn't nearly as surprised when I started to fall in love with the Boston Celtics. After all, I've always loved watching any kind of basketball. I just never really had a pro team of my own (I basically just cheered for the teams my favorite Tar Heels were on) - but then when I moved to Boston everything changed (once again). I love my Celtics and quite honestly find it hard to believe they weren't MY team before now. Great legacy. Great tradition. And I guess it doesn't hurt that I came up here just in time to see one of the greatest season-to-season turnarounds in NBA history.
I won't lie...I still think college sports have more passion (and nobody will ever be able to convince me otherwise) but I have finally come to appreciate the professional game as well. And I have especially come to appreciate the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics.
I have now returned to my home state of Virginia, working in Washington, DC and I am going through MAJOR Boston withdraw.
So, with all that being said...GO SOX!!! GO CELTS!!!
xxoo
