It’s been hard to watch my beloved Yankees struggle, but last night’s loss to the Red Sox has sent me over the edge. Go ahead and say that a 13-13 record and third place spot in the AL East isn’t that bad in early May. Go ahead and tell me that things are looking up asTeixeira broke out of his slump in a big way with 2 HRs on Monday--they only helped our Bombers lose by 2 fewer runs to Boston, and he still hasn't pulled his average up over the Mendoza line. I'm tired of excuses and "bright side" babble. Especially the optimistic garbage that Girardi has been spewing lately. From the New York Daily News:
"After watching his bullpen give up three runs in the final two innings to ensure the Red Sox victory, Girardi said he is confident that his current crop of relievers could get the job done.
""My job is to get the best out of them," Girardi said. "To me, you have to believe in them - and I do believe in them. Have they struggled? Yes, they have....There are times when you have to make changes [...] At this minute, I don't know if there's a move to be made.""
Last night I watched Albaladejo allow two unearned runs in the eighth after Ramiro Pena biffed one in the field. Then Albaladejo rounded out his two-third of an inning beautifully with allowing a hit, a walk and a hit batter. Melancon pitched no better; walking three batters without recording an out. I'm all for defending your ballclub, Girardi, that's your job... but I have a better idea.
Looking for a "move to make"? Let's ship Girardi's butt out of New York. Better yet--let's give him the boot and bring Torre back home.
Torre came to the Yankees in 1996 and promptly won the Manager of the Year Award. His team won the World Series, and won three more times within a five year span (earning Torre yet another MOY Award in 1998). New York is the only team in the MLB to make it to the postseason 13 seasons in a row--is it a coincidence that Joe T.'s 12-year tenure fits snugly into that stat? I think not.
What I do think is that Girardi needs to get gone.
Enough is enough.

The Yankees need to be restored to their rightful glory and Joe Torre can get them there. Nobody handled the Bronx boss or media better, and you know there's been a storm cloud over Jeter since his favorite father Torre left for sunny LA. Sign this petition to show your support. |
