"The details are completely preliminary at this point, but Rays starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson has been hit in the head with a batted ball during batting practice Wednesday afternoon in Comerica Park (via Marc Topkin's Twitter feed).
According to Topkin (Rays beat writer for the Tampa Bay Times), paramedics were sent to the Rays' bullpen during batting practice, where Hellickson had been throwing a side session. Rays players told Topkin that Hellickson was hit on the side of the head by a ball. Hellickson was then reportedly taken out of the stadium on a cart and then to a local hospital. "
